Transit of Venus locals meet up!

Last night, Wednesday, November 9th, a group of people met at the Bittersweet Elementary Digital Video Theatre in Mishawaka.
Everyone in the theatre was there thanks to one guy, Chuck Bueter, and for one reason, the 2012 Transit of Venus on June 5th!
There were teachers, local astronomers, local students, TV Meterologists, Notre Dame professors, coordinators, grad students (me!), and others all there to listen to Chuck discuss the upcoming ToV event.
Chuck really got the group energized and after we had introduced ourselves, it was apparent that there were a lot of creative ideas that just needed to get rolling.
The 2012 Transit of Venus (Check out the Site! TRANSITOFVENUS. ORG) will happen on June 5th, visible from South Bend / Michiana area starting at in the late afternoon until sunset.
The website has TONS of resources, from educational fun, to eye safety, to how to build your own viewing set ups!
The Transit of Venus is where Venus passes between the Earth and the Sun in such alignment that we on Earth can see the planet in the Sun’s orb as it goes across.
The important thing is… it wont happen again until 2117 (105.5 years from now). So THIS IS YOUR ONLY CHANCE to watch this EPIC event in the Solar System! If you’re a local to Notre Dame area and want to get involved you can always contact Chuck on his website!
